Dr. Varma is a psychiatrist who has been working in the mental health field since 1993. His practice includes psychiatric consultation / psychotropic medication evaluation and management. Dr. Varma is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the public interest and the professions of psychiatry and neurology by promoting excellence in practice through certification and continuing certification processes. Dr. Varma received his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal (India), and followed that up with a fellowship in mood disorders at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada. He then went on to complete his residency in American psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Dr. Varma sees adults, children, adolescents, and geriatric populations, as well as patients from various cultural backgrounds. He offers holistic appointments which include pharmacogenomic testing to aid in prescribing, nonpharmacological treatments for anxiety like alpha stim and myndlift, and supplements for various psychiatric conditions to name a few. Psyfi TMS offers TMS for the treatment of depression, anxiety with depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and nicotine dependence. Dr. Varma is a clinical instructor for various Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant schools. He is also a paid speaker for several pharmaceutical companies.
